Can you introduce yourself?
My name is Kara Lin Toye. I have been working with EQUIMETRE for almost two years, since 2022. I have been analyzing data, drawing from my own experience, and learning how to utilize it effectively. With each passing day, my awareness of EQUIMETRE capabilities grows and there is always more to learn.
What made you decide to use EQUIMETRE in your training program?
What led me to start using EQUIMETRE was the experience with the first horse I tried it on. I found myself in a bit of a dilemma, unsure if she was fully prepared to run. There were evident gaps in her mental and physical readiness, as well as her overall fitness.
What do you see as the main advantage of using EQUIMETRE?
The main advantage of using EQUIMETRE is being able to provide clear explanations backed by hard facts and figures.
Do you have a favorite parameter or feature on the platform and the EQUIMETRE app?
My favorite parameter is honestly the precise timing, as time is the primary measure for most activities here in the United States.
How do you organise your data collection and analysis, what horses you decide to put it on at what time, etc..?
Whenever I have a question, I use EQUIMETRE on a horse to support a hypothesis I might have. I particularly like using it for horses coming off a layoff to compare their current state to where they were before. Another way I found it very useful was when I had a horse sustain an injury during a breeze. You could detect potential micro-signs leading up to it, so I knew to avoid those situations. It serves as a crucial reference point. The horse went on a layoff and then returned from a break, allowing me to compare it to previous data and adjust our approach accordingly.
Can you think of any specific case or moment using EQUIMETRE where it was particularly useful?
I believe that as I become more comfortable with the data myself, I realize that every horse is unique. Currently, I find it fascinating to have a horse that’s almost ready to race, which I would consider more physically fit than I would typically expect under other circumstances. However, many factors contribute to this assessment. Hopefully, this means I can aim for top-three finishes with the horse, rather than just settling for a learning race or similar outcomes.
Where do you see EQUIMETRE going in the future? What would you expect from the product?
I believe that using the data immediately and determining the next steps will become easier as I grow more accustomed to the platform.
