Could you introduce yourself?

I’m Desleigh Forster, a trainer based at Eagle Farm, where I manage 19 horses.

How long have you been working with data, and why did you choose to start using it?

I’ve been using data for about 18 months. I was previously using another system, but I didn’t feel it met my standards. Arioneo’s device, on the other hand, is exceptional. It provides all the key feedback you need: speed, stride, and more.

You really can’t go wrong using this data.

Can you tell us more about how you handle data collection and analysis?

My staff love using Equimetre. It’s very easy to put on the horse and simple to operate. I personally find the data easy to review after morning work. I also have a team member who helps analyse the data, and they’ve been completing the Essentials course. It’s just straightforward to understand.

What do you like about working with Arioneo?

The Arioneo team is fantastic to work with. They’re responsive, understanding, and always helpful when it comes to interpreting the data. Whenever we need support, they get back to us quickly.

Do you have a data-driven decision you can share with us?

One great example is how the data helps assess a horse’s stride. Sometimes, you might think a horse is a sprinter, but the data reveals they prefer longer distances. This kind of insight is incredibly helpful early in a horse’s preparation, giving you a clear idea of where they are and where they’re headed.

How do you see the future of data in horse racing? Any advice for trainers just starting?

I believe data will become essential for every trainer. Soon, it will be the standard, something everyone uses. Equimetre is such an easy device, and it delivers highly accurate feedback. It’s the way forward, and I think it will naturally become part of every trainer’s routine.

If you had to describe Equimetre in one sentence, what would it be?

It’s the perfect tool to use.
